The recent Daresbury Laboratory and UK ATC Apprenticeship Awards, hosted by the Science and Technology Facilities Council (STFC), highlight the remarkable contributions of apprentices across the organisation.
The awards not only recognise outstanding apprentices nominated by colleagues and managers but also provide a platform for them to share their experiences.
This included a presentation from UK ATC's apprentices Arabella Allison-Donnelly, Declan Gamble and Luca Millan on the lightsabre they constructed for the Royal Observatory Edinburgh's annual Doors Open Day. A project, conceived by Eilidh Fraser, that showcased their design ideas, mechanical and electronics skills, bringing all aspects together to create a unique tool for public engagement.
UK ATC's Luca Millan also won the Rising Star Award, which is presented to new apprentices who have shown impressive progress and achievements in their apprenticeship so far.
Luca Millan said: “Thanks to STFC for this award. I've gained so much knowledge and experience since starting at UK ATC. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way."
Graham Wilks, UK ATC ESG Manager, said “Congratulations to Luca on this well-deserved award. His passion and hard work have truly shone through in his apprenticeship and I'm excited to see what he will achieve in the future."
